The 771 was basically the first cordless drill from DeWALT to enter the 20V space. Because of that, it has the lowest specs as far as battery runtime and motor torque, but it also has the lowest price.

If you can find the DCD777C2 on sale for the same price as the 771, we recommend upgrading to it – it has a brushless motor which is both more efficient and more powerful. Many of the reviews of the DCD771C2 Canada drill even hint at the fact that there are newer models of the drill that may be a better option.

If you want a one-for-all cordless drill tool, consider paying more for the DCD791D2 as the motor is 50% more powerful than the DCD771 model. Plus, with a metal ratcheting clutch that was assembled in the USA, it’s a reliable workhorse that will serve you for years to come.

This drill is cheaper than it's brushless motored brothers, with the only downside being some lost battery life due to the less efficient motor. Same great features, same 2-speed transmission, same 20V lithium-ion batteries that work with all of DeWalt's 20V tools.
