The 27-inch iMac is what Apple calls the “ultimate desktop”, and now it features faster performance, SSD hard drives, and an improved Retina 5K display. Plus, it has a higher quality camera, speakers, and microphone.

Compared to the previous version of the 27 inch iMac, the new iMac is:

- Up to 65 percent more plug-ins in Logic Pro X.
- Up to 40 percent faster 8K ProRes transcode in Final Cut Pro X.
- Up to 35 percent faster rendering with Arnold in Autodesk Maya.
- Up to 25 percent faster build time in Xcode.
New iMac 2020 Availability
Starting August 4, 2020, the new 27-inch iMac is available on apple.com both in the USA and Canada. Starting prices are listed a $1,799 US for the Apple.com price.
In Canada, on Apple.com/ca/, the starting price is $3,079.00.
iMac 27 inch Canada Upgrades
If you are interested in the nano-texture glass (which is ideal in varied light conditions to reduce glare), that is an additional $625.
The base processor is a 10th generation 8-core Intel Core i7 processor. If that’s not enough computing power, you can upgrade to a 10-core Intel Code i9 processor for $505.
Starting with 8GB of DDR4 memory, the 27-inch iMac can be customized up to 16GB for $250, or all the way up to 128 GB of ram (which is $3250 additional).
The iMac 27 inch in Canada starts with a 512GB solid state drive, but you can increase that storage to 1TB($250), 2TB($750), or even 8TB ($3000).
